Great weekend service & today's my birthday

Today's my birthday, I'm 48 today!!! Never really pictured myself getting to this age. 50 is just around the corner. WOW! But as people say your only as old as you think :-) We'll I think quite young. A matter of fact sometimes I do things that only the young in body should do, and learn my lesson, by the price I pay - lol!
But I can say I am blessed that with years comes wisdom (or atleast it should). And through the years I have learned a few things, and hope as I get older that I will continue to grow in the wisdom of the LORD.

Also this weekend we had to powerful services. At our Saturday PM service I taught on "HUMILTY AND CASTING OUR CARES UPON THE LORD from I Pet.5:5-7. It was quite a touching service when we ended with people writing down their cares and then bring the slips of paper up front and feeding them through a shredder as I encouraged everyone to give their cares to the LORD and not take them back. Many were touched in this service and a few of us were brought to healthy tears as we casts our gares on the LORD.

Then, this morning's service the sermon was on Galatians 5:16-21. As we are going verse by verse through Galatians on Sunday's. This week was on the "WORKS OF THE FLESH", not the most comfortable subject to go over in a world where also anything goes (and where the church, as a whole, seems to be conforming to the world). Interestingly, we broadcast our services to the outside of our building by a speaker. It doesn't travel far (no noise ordinances broken). But as I was talking a man from across the street walked up to our church door and singled to me to turn down the speaker. We did (a little bit). It get's me thinking that while the world can blare their demonic music onto the streets, and we (Christians) have to put up with it. Yet, the world can not handle hearing the Bible (see I Cor 1:18). We plan to continue broadcasting our service to the streets, AND I'm believing that though we may get some negative responses, that God's Word will also pierce hard hearts in our town.

Tomorrow, our church will do our final prayer walk for this year. This week we will pray over the many bars in our little town, and that God will also use me to share Christ with many of those in these establishments as I play in the Pool league in the coming weeks and months.

Christ died for all, that includes those in these bars, so please pray God will use me in these places. It will be worth it even if one soul can be snatched out of satans hand and brought in to the family of God.

Good bless you all and keep in touch.

September 13 - Ministry update and more!

We'll it's been another busy week - But I Praise the LORD for how he is using me in this remote part of Pennsylvania. I can honestly say I don't miss the city life (Atlanta, GA), and love the slower more relaxed pace of my surroundings. But just like everywhere else, this area has some big problems. Hard drugs and alcoholism being a huge problem in this area, and also suicide. We just had a young man (early 20's) kill himself last week, this after his dad had had commited suicide in May of this year. So sad - I wish I could have had a chance to talk to people about Christ before making such a terrible decision as taking their lives.

We had our biggest turn out at Saturday evening service this past Saturday - PTL! We also have a speaker set up outside of our building broadcasting our services onto the streets for those walking by or sitting on a nearby bench.

Wednesday, I visited 8 prisoners, one a new person - PTL! Also, last week one inmate was released and we are helping him and he is attending our church. He is overwhelmed by the love our members have shown him and really wants to get grounded in the Bible - Pray that he will get well ground.

Also, Wednesday night we watched a video teaching by Ray Comfort, called "Hells Best Kept Secret" - I strongly recommend to you all to get the book or DVD of this teaching. I highly recommend it.

Pool league in our town started tonight (pools a big thing here), but I am not playing this week and will only sub as teams need me. This gives me the liberty to not play on weeks where my schedule dictates me to go in another direction. I have been asked to play on a team as a sub for next week. Pray that God will use me. I am hoping to meet more people by being a sub.

Tomorrow, I get ready for our weekend service, etc. That all for now. :-)

Salvation, Water baptisms, Prison Ministry, and other blessings!

I planned on writing a few times a week and here I am writting for the first time in 3 weeks.

I will try to blog small bits of information in the future which may help me blog more often.

We had a woman accept (trust in) Christ approx. 1 month

We'll on August 19th we had a water baptism service (immersion style) with 5 people getting baptized at Chapman Dam about 20-30 minutes from Kane.

It was a wonderful experience for us all (especially the 5 water baptized). We followed that by a church fellowship in one of the pavilions. It was a rainy day but we had all agreed rain or shine we would do the water baptism. So we all got atleast a little wet :-)

Also, prison ministry that was started in July has been going great. I go to the small prison every Wednesday for 3-5 hours and visit 6-8 inmates one at a time.

This week I helped one inmate on a short furlough see his baby born, and spend time with his fiancee (the baby's mother). Been a tiresome week running back and forth from prison, court, hospital but well worth it. I knew it was going to be a busy week, so I planned for it accordingly.

Also, one inmate I have been visiting is out and we (me and others in our church) are helping him get on his feet and grow with Jesus.

Pool (billiard league) starts next week - This is another ministry of mine. But due to my schedule I am only playing as a subsitute as I can not commit to every Thursday night.

As a sub they can move me around to various teams. I pray this gives me more opportunities to minister to more people in my community. Please, pray for this ministry too!

And praise the LORD I celebrated my wife's (Joyce) birthday on Tuesday, as did our church with Cake and pie at Wednesday service.

These are some of the many highlights of the past few weeks.

I sure would like your prayers as I continue to seek God's direction in the many ministries I am involved in, and learning to put God FIRST. Also, wisdom to know that AFTER PUTTING GOD FIRST, to know how to prioritize the ministry(s) in which God has placed me.
